April showers bring May flowers--even in Miss Diane's class. We started our flower shop unit today and had a lot of fun. In the shop we have aprons, gloves, vases, shovels, watering cans, and, of course, flowers. The afternoon boys even raided the tool area for pliers and power saws to do some manly pruning.

We practiced walking up and down stairs and jumping over a candle in the morning class. In the afternoon class we rocked in our wooden boat and sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat."

Both classes got to plant flowers at the sensory table, paint with water colors, and find hidden treasures in the theraputty.

Both classes also did an activity with Miss Julie. We talked about "happy" and then watched a short movie. We had to be detectives and figure out when the baby lamp (yes, lamp) was happy and when it was sad.

We talked about using our own experiences to understand how other people (or office supplies) are feeling. We talked about reading body language. We even listened to the music in the video for clues. If you are interested in watching these videos they come from this collection.
We will continue being social detectives until the end of the year.

Snack today was apples and goldfish crackers.
