Welcome back to school. We started our harvest theme in Miss Diane's class today. The sensory table is filled with corn meal and the play area is a farmer's market with lots of different fruits and vegetables to buy.
Both classes also had an opportunity to copy pictures using different shapes like squares, triangles, hexagons, diamonds, and even trapezoids.
Then we did some sticky finger painting. First, Miss Myla poured some Karo syrup onto the paper and we rubbed it around on the paper. Then we dropped on some red water color paint and some yellow water color paint. When we rubbed some more the paint mixed to make orange!
The afternoon class also took a pretend trip to the paper pumpkin patch where they got to pick out one pumpkin. There were big, small, tall, and short pumpkins. Some were green, some were yellow, and some were orange. Some even had faces that were happy, mad, or sad. After we picked out our pumpkins we told the class two things about it in a sentence like, "My pumpkin is big and green," or "My pumpkin is short and happy."
Snack today was apples and pretzels.
