We have a new member of our preschool staff to welcome. Her name is Talitha (tie-leeta) and we are so happy that she is here.
After books and puzzles the morning class learned a new dance called the "Turkey Dance." It involves a lot of hopping and flapping of wings.
Then we played a game with Miss Julie called "Where is the Turkey?" The Turkey was hiding and we had to find him. Sometimes he hid on top of the barn.
Sometimes he hid in the barn.
Sometimes he hid under the barn.
And sometimes he hid behind the barn.
Then we cut out paper feathers to add to our paper plate turkeys and we sponge painted.
Of course, we also had a little time for free choice.
Then we heard a story and ate snack. Snack today was Teddy Grahams and Craisins.
In the afternoon class we marched in a parade and then heard a story about a family whose Thanksgiving turkey fell into the fish tank. It reminded us that Thanksgiving is really about being with friends and family.
The afternoon class also played "Where is the Turkey?" but instead of hiding in or around the barn, the turkey hid in different places in the classroom.
Of course, we did talk a little about food. We went around the circle and asked everyone what they wanted to eat on Thanksgiving. While some hoped for apple pie and ice cream, others were really looking forward to cheese and crackers.
Then the afternoon class did some sponge painting and practiced cutting.
The pieces that were cut out and painted today will be put together into a special Thanksgiving hat to wear to the "feast" tomorrow.
Then there was a little time for free choice.
The afternoon class also had Teddy Grahams and Craisins for snack today.
It was a great day!
